Happy Squirrely Spring

Hello and Welcome!

After breaking all kinds of records here in Minnesota for the most snow and cold temperatures in April, we are finally seeing signs of spring! Hooray! To celebrate I made this fun spring time card:

I combined some of my favorite crafting companies to create this card. The squirrel is from Pink & Main's Happy Fall stamp set and was colored with Zig Clean Color markers. The pretty flowers and sprigs are Poppystamps' Stitched Bloom Trio  and Small Leafy Sprig die cuts. The sentiment is from Verve Stamps' Coffee Helps set.

All of the papers and white chipboard are by Quick Quotes. I also edged all the elements with Quick Quotes' PowderPuff Chalking Inks. To sparkle things up, gold gems were added.

Graffiti Card

Hello and Welcome!

Today I am so excited to show you a card for my teenage son. It is based on a technique by Lexi Daly over at Papertrey Ink for their "Graffiti Word Art" Make It Monday challenge (see link below).

Papertrey Ink's Wet Paint word die set was prefect for this technique which is inlaid into the stenciled brick. The sentiment and doodled stars are from Papertrey's Star Scribbles stamp set.

I colored using Quick Quotes PowderPuff Chalking Inks, which glide on effortlessly. For the splatters I used Heidi Swapp's Bronze Colorshine. I love how it looks like a spotlight is shining on the sentiment!

Spring Time Bunny

Hello and Welcome!

Tomorrow we will be getting 5-10 inches of snow and sleet with winds that will create blizzard conditions. This weather is typical for February, but not April! Most people here in Minnesota are sick of this wintery weather. So what better way to think spring than to make a fun spring card and send it to a friend who needs a little encouragement.

One of my favorite springtime stamps is "Kickin' Grass" by The Cat's Pajamas. Long-eared bunny is so cute and always makes me smile. I colored him with Zig Clean Color markers. To add a little shine and dimension, I colored the bunny's nose and added buds among the grass with Nuvo Drops and a gel pens.

This card is based on sketch by Your Next Stamp. I used YNS's "Soaring By..." stamp for the Hi! sentiment. The grass is die cut is also from YNS die cut. For some texture, the blue background cardstock was run through a Sizzix floral embossing folder and then sanded, plus twine was added to the base. The book Snow Rabbit, Spring Rabbit by Il Sung Na was an inspiration for this card.

Three Pages, One Quick Quotes Kit

Hello and Welcome!

I was so inspired by all the beautiful papers and fun embellishments in Quick Quotes' April Club Q kit, I made three layouts from just the "Big Altered Project" kit and a few sheets of black and white cardstock. Check it out:

To make these pages, I started by laying out three 12 x 12 papers. Then I took all the pieces from the Club Q Altered kit, and moved them around on the pages until I was happy with the design. The best part is that everything is pre-cut, so all I had to do was add my photos and stick everything down.

The Marching Band layout was featured earlier this month, and you can see details here.

Here is a close-up of the Explore layout:

I added Quick Quotes' metal flowers (not included) and edged the papers with Baja Blue and Tropical Punch PowderPuff Chalking Inks.

Thickers were added from my stash for a title. But the tag, scalloped border, ribbon and papers are all part of the kit. Even the fish were fussy cut from one of the included papers.

Here is a close-up of the Weekend Get-a-way layout:

The papers, tags, metal frame and scalloped border are apart of the kit. I did edge all of the papers with Baja Blue and Tropical Punch PowderPuff Chalking inks.

A title was added with Thickers from my stash. The photos were printed with my Canon Selphy Photo printer. The banner quotes (not included) are from Navigator 600.

Spring Time Gate Fold Card

Hello and Welcome!

I love Watercolor Wednesdays, the watercolor tutorial on the Art Impressions blog. Bonnie is so encouraging and makes it easy to create masterpieces. It took me several tries to get this flower pot floral to turn out, but I am very happy with the end result.

I used Art Impressions' Small Container 4869, Foliage 4051 and Flower 4052 stamp sets with Marvy Le Plume markers. The flower painting is framed and placed inside the card with removable adhesive.

For the gatefold card, a peek-a-boo window was cut in the middle so the flower painting could be seen from the inside. The outside was decorated with Poppy Stamps' Elsa Butterfly and Small Leafy Sprig die cuts. The pattern paper is by Quick Quotes. The sentiment is from Art Impressions' Dancers stamp set. The overall design was inspired by the story The Secret Garden.

Playful Pup Card

Hello and Welcome!

When my good friend, Sue, goes on vacation, we get to watch her cute and playful pup, Ginger. As Sue's birthday is coming up, I thought this adorable stamp by Art Impressions would be perfect for her birthday card. The pup in the stamp looks so much like Ginger it is uncanny.

This pup stamp reminds me of the Little Golden Books Poky Little Puppy. I colored the Art Impression's pup stamp with Zig Clean Color markers.

The card has a gate fold and the plaid background paper is by Lawn Fawn. I edged the card with Quick Quotes' Sky Blue PowderPuff Chalking Ink. The sentiment frame a die by Sizzix.

Marching Band Fun with Club Q

Hello and Welcome!

I'm here today bringing you a fun layout using the Quick Quotes April Club Q kit!

This page was created from their Altered kit. It was really fun taking the pieces from this mini album kit and making a standard layout.

This page came together so easily and quickly as all the pre-cut papers go together, plus there are matching embellishments like ribbon and chipboard tags and scalloped borders. I simply matted Navigator 105 on black cardstock, took the pieces from the Club Q kit, and arranged them in a grid pattern. (I was actually able to make four layouts with the Altered Club Q kit! I will be showing you the other layouts later this month.)

As my son's marching band uniform is green and yellow, I pulled in these colors using PowderPuff Chalking Inks in Seafoam, Desert Sun, and Feather Gray.

The photos were printed with my Canon Selphy CP1200. I love that it can resize my photos to fit my page perfectly.
